Leather is an article known for its great versatility and endurance. There are different types of leather, some are pliable and soft whilst others are more inflexible and have greater durability. This is made possible by the use of different chemicals at the time of tanning the leather.
The very first methods of tanning leather came from the use of substances that man could find in nature like tree bark extract, leaves and sap. With time, practice and a long process of trial and error, man eventually learned other methods of tanning leather using chemicals and other such substances.
